International Research Workshop held in NIBEC

On 21st June 2018, the ‘International Research Workshop on Solar technologies for water disinfection for developing communities’ was held in NIBEC- Ulster University, Jordanstown.

 This specialised workshop brought together some experts in water for developing countries. This is line with the goals of our 5&50 strategy, specifically addressing global challenges. This workshop joined researchers and PhD students from two running projects, the Royal Society Newton mobility grant between Stellenbosch University and Ulster University for developing low cost technologies and microbial assessment for safe drinking water in South Africa; and the GCRF-SAFEWATER on low cost technologies for safe drinking water in developing regions. The event was chaired by Dr. Pilar Fernandez-Ibañez (Ulster) and invited speakers were Prof. Wesaal Khan (Stellenbosch Univ., South Africa) and Prof. Lyda Sabogal (Univ. Sao Paulo, Brazil)
